The notion of internetmania was introduced into the scientific use by the New York psychiatrist Ivan Goldberg who used this word meaning the extreme addiction to the Internet. He refers this disease to the sphere of mental diseases. But the majority of doctors don't agree on the existing of this disease in reality saying that the factors are not studied well according to Ivan Goldberg. And their main argument is that internet is not connected with the body addiction unlike other addictions that is reflected in the extreme feeling that appears when there is not the object of desire.
Till nowadays there is no agreement among scientists in the definition of this disease. The same can be said about therapy. But scientists do coincide in the point that there are characteristic symptoms of the disease. Usually scientists define this addiction as the pathological inclination for the Internet use.
According to investigations about 13% of asked people demonstrate the behaviour similar to the behaviour of people sick with internetmania. 30% of this group said that they felt excitement communicating in chats that was similar to the state of drunkenness.
The main characteristics of a person who may suffer from internet are the frequent desire to get into the Internet, the long-lasting desire to be in the internet connected with the feeling of guilty, socially dangerous eccentric behaviour among friends, family, colleagues, low capacity for work, concealment or underestimation of the Internet addiction, psychological irritation that appears in the case when a person can't enter the internet that is caused by the certain obstacles.
