Oniomania or shopaholism
Oniomania is the obsession that is reflected in the extreme desire to go shopping not considering the necessities and consequences of the shopping they do. This kind of mania is met during the manic states. But nowadays people use another more common term to call the extreme desire to shop that is shopaholism.
Shopaholic is the sick person who buys things that are not necessary for him/her and his/her house is usually full of different unnecessary things that were not used even once. Shopaholics can't consider the situation objectively and make right decisions basing on their extreme desire to shop.
During the shopping shopaholic gets pleasure after which the feeling of guilty follows. And it happens very fast after the buying and when shopaholic gets the credit card that has no money but there are a lot of debts.
The modern megalopolis and big cities are favourable for the development of this disease as they are full of attractive shop windows that seduce people with colourful things. But shopaholic is usually interested in labels and things without labels don't interest him/her.
The consequences of shopaholism are awful. First of all these are the debts that shopaholics have to pay for everything they bought. Another problem is conflicts with family, friends and at work. And shopping turns into the antidepressant for them with the help of which they get rid of stress, depression, negative mood and just forget about quarrels.
