Pillow and blanket, please – Clinomania

Almost everybody of us didn't want to get up from the bed in the morning and to go to work. And several times we even heard the scream of indignation of our parents/relatives/husbands and wives because we passed the whole day in the bed sleeping, resting and simply doing nothing. This is the usual situation when parents can't get their children out from their beds to go to school or simply to do something. It is the usual situation but sometimes very usual situation takes unusual forms of mania.

Clinomania comes from Greek meaning the obsession of sleeping. In fact clinomania is the extreme necessity in sleeping and the desire to stay in bed for a long time not even sleeping. In other words it is love to bed, pillows and blankets.

Usually clinomania is the reflection of psychogenic behaviour disorder. It can be explained as the desire of a person to escape from the difficulties of every-day life into the good and comfortable atmosphere of the bed. It may also be the symptom of the endogenous depression if there is also hypersomnia, organic lesion of the brain, schizophrenia.

Besides, clinomania is reflected as the rare form of obtrusiveness and is thought to be the manifestation of regression even to the behaviour of the person as if he/she was a little child in the cradle from the point of view of psychoanalysis. Sometimes regression reaches such level that a person wants to get back into the belly of the mother.
